Typology

In order to achieve the objectives of the Programme, different forms of cooperation projects are supported. It’s worth remembering that whatever the type of project, the basic requirement to have at least one partner from the UK and one partner from one of the three countries of the continental programme area applies.

First of all, regular crossborder cooperation projects bring together actors from different countries in the Programme area, working together to develop or solve shared crossborder issues in line with the objectives of the four Programme priorities described in Operational Programme. There is no minimum and maximum budget set for this type of project, allowing a wide range of organisations to be involved in crossborder cooperation projects.

In addition to regular projects, strategic projects can be developed in the four priorities of the Programme. These projects have to deal with major thematic issues (see Key information on Strategic projects), to involve key actors and to be relevant for the whole Programme area. There is no specific procedure relating to strategic projects. It is the responsibility of the Steering Committee to decide whether a project should be deemed as a Strategic Project or not.
