A lot of possible examples of activities that will be supported by the Programme are detailed under each Priority within the Operational Programme. The ones that are mentioned in this section represent only a small part of what can be done and you can learn from the practical experiences of approved projects as well. The Programme is looking for cooperation leading to innovation, added-value for the territories and impact on the population of the 2 Seas area, so be imaginative and convincing that your idea can make a difference!
Priority 1 focuses on enhancing the overall economic development and competitiveness of the Programme area. Possible examples of activities that can be supported by the Programme through this priority are the following: cooperation in support of the economic diversification of sectors in decline (industry, agriculture, fisheries, etc.), cooperation in innovation systems, cluster development and cluster networking, joint development of tourism products and promotion of cultural and historic sites, crossborder cooperation to promote entrepreneurship, promote development of sustainable transport and logistics services.
Priority 2 focuses on protecting and improving the environment in the Programme area and puts a special focus on the Channel and the North Sea. Possible examples of activities that will be supported by the Programme through this priority are the following: cooperation to develop methods to integrate coastal defenses with tourism and nature, joint awareness raising activities/campaigns regarding risk hazards, crossborder initiatives in research and development to improve energy efficiency, cooperation in the management of valuable landscapes and natural heritage, joint actions in order to prevent and combat pollution of air, water and soil.
Priority 3 focuses on creating a better living environment for the Programme area’s inhabitants as an important building block for the region’s competitiveness and attractiveness. Possible examples of activities that will be supported by the Programme through this priority are the following: cooperation to facilitate active ageing and independent living, joint actions to encourage young people to stay in coastal and rural areas, supporting crossborder networks and exchange in education and between public institutions, cooperation between the regional and local media in order to promote the adherence to the concerned working-area, cooperation in order to improve the economic, social and health impact of the use of sports and the valorization of sports infrastructure.
Priority 4 focuses on tackling maritime issues shared by a wide maritime area, from the South of the North Sea to the South of the Channel, covering the two eligible areas of the France (Channel) – England and 2 Seas Programmes. Cross border projects, and notably capitalization and strategic projects with a strong maritime dimension, are expected to be developed within this common priority.
